Pescetarian Life. Coconut Almond Milk

So recently I discovered something interesting and new to my taste bud, and currently has a high probability of  being repurchased and restocked in my fridge. It is nothing new of course to the world of healthy-living/vegetarian/vegan folks, but I just had the chance to taste it last week. Well, it’s none other than a coconut almond milk. In this case, it is from Alpro.

As you can see from the picture above, the carton basically says it all.

[A little disclaimer: I’m NOT promoting this brand nor I’m sponsored by the brand to write this post.]

But, I have to say that this milk was one of my best buys in my weekly grocery list. Why? Well, first, it was because of the scent. It smelled so tropical, I couldn’t believe it was milk and not a real coconut. The coconut aroma was not that subtle, yet not that intense; like the perfect amount of scent. Secondly, because of the taste. I was kinda expecting a sweet taste, but suprisingly it was pretty balanced between the sweet taste and bland. So, I cannot say it tasted bland because it was not. And I cannot say it sweet because it was not either. Also, just like the carton says, “refreshing coconut blended with subtle almond”, it really does tasted like that. I could taste the almond but it was definitely subtle and not overpowering the taste of the coconut.

Third reason, and I’m just saying this only because I’m a sucker for a good design — it was because of the packaging design. I mean, how could you not be interested in buying stuff when the packaging looks so good and inviting? As someone who does design works, I have to be honest and say that the brand has managed to attract me to buy their product just by looking at the packaging. And I’m not exaggerating either. As you can see, they put a really refreshing-looking coconut picture with an equally refreshing-looking creamy-white liquid, which I assumed is milk, and also backed up with green leaves that personate the sense of freshness. So, in conclusion, REFRESHING stuff! ;P

Anyway, aside from all of that reasonings, the main reason as to why I bought this product in the first place was because of my attempt to substitute some of my usual food to fit in into my new healthy-living regime. I’ve been enjoying dairy products until now but recently, without me knowing how and when it happened, I’ve been slowly turning my food interest into plant-based and vegan food. Although, I do still enjoy dairy products like milk and cheese. I still cannot live without cheese! Oh, my cheese!

It’s vegan, less sugar, low fat, packed with calcium and vitamins, and also good for the planet (just like the carton says!). It tastes great as well! Perfect for my pescetarian lifestyle! So, my conclusion is to buy more of this product because I can drink it just like that or make a smoothie with it or bake cookies/cake or much more that I haven’t think of.

There are other variants from this brand and I intend to try them all and find the one that I like the best. And until my legs want to start moving to the supermarket again, I’ll stick with this post for now.

Till then.

Ciao,

    • Hey, Kiersten! Thank you! I use the free template design provided by wordpress, called Twenty Fifteen. But recently I changed it into Sight. Just browse the templates, find the ones that you like, and then you can start your blog right away. I hope this helps! 🙂
